Reference to Wm Speddy: "When the Susquehanna Co. of CT was organized July 18, 1753, that colony claimed land in PA lying above the 41st degree of latitude which degree passes through Union County below west Milton and in 1770 William Speddy was the agent or advance picket to take and hold land claimed by them in Buffalo Valley against those who had PA title to their lands. The CT claimants believed the Buffalo Valley lay wholly above the 41st degree which was not the case. There is no record of force being used west of the river, except the capture of Speddy by the Pennemites for his part in the murder of Nathan Ogden at Wyoming. He was acquitted of the crime." pp. 374-375
