An Introduction to Our McCowan-McCorquodale line.

Ann McCowan was the daughter of Alexander McCowan and Florence McCorquodale. Ann married Neil Sinclair. Their son, John Sinclair married Jessie Black. Their daughter Belle Sinclair married F. T. Ramsey.

Recently I've been in contact with a 5th cousin, Pam McCorquodale. That relationship means we share great great great great grandparents, Alex and Florence McCowan! She told me, "My connection to Alexander McCowan and Florence McCorquodale is their son, John, married Annie Clarke and had a daughter Isobella McCowan.  Isobella married Duncan McColl.  Their daughter Catherine "Kate" married John Elliott - daughter Hughena married Alexander McCorquodale and their son Hugh married Dorothy Bonney and they had my sister and me."

She was kind enough to share some of the essays her grandmother, Hughena McCorquodale, wrote around the turn of the last century. She was a schoolteacher in rural Canada and had some wonderful stories about her experiences and family. I thought they were so fun and interesting, I asked Pam if I could share them with my family by posting them on my website. She agreed. She had transcribed the essays from Hughena's originals, which in some cases were very deteriorated.

This is a photo of Pam. I think it's interesting how much she looks like her great great grandmother, Isobella McCowan McCorquodale, the niece of our ancestor, Ann McCowan. I also think her expression shows the determination that her ancestors and ours needed to survive.
