She taught from the fall of 1942 to possibly the fall of 1943 back at Robert E. Lee Elementary. She quit teaching when she got pregnant with Madeline who was born on July 11, 1944.

The development date on the photo above is May 24, 1943. Mother's note said, '2B class at Robert E Lee.'
