Mercy Ramsey's Classes

1933-1943

Baker School was built on the site of the Hyde Park Pavilion in 1911. It replaced the original Hyde Park School on Speedway. The photo is from the Austin History Center collection.

Mercy Ramsey taught at Baker from the fall 1932 to the spring 1939 under principal H. A. Porter.

The development date on both these photos is Jun 27 1939, but the one above is probably from the fall term, and the one below from the spring term at Baker Elementary.

She taught from the fall 1939 to the spring 1940 at Wooldridge elementary school on 24th Street on the UT campus.

She taught from the fall 1940 to spring 1941 at Robert E Lee.

The development date on the photo above is 1942, Mother's note said Bryker Wood

She taught from the fall of 1941 to the spring of 1942 at Bryker Woods. Bryker Woods Elementary School opened in the 1930's It originally served grades K-6.

Mother made a note on the back of the photo above, 'Bryker Woods 1942.'

The development date on the photo above is Feb 19, 1943

She taught from the fall of 1942 to, according to AISD records, June 1943 back at Robert E. Lee Elementary. Madeline who was born on July 11, 1944.

The development date on the photo above is May 24, 1943. Mother's note said, '2B class at Robert E Lee.'
