Cabaret 2009 – Hittin’ the Road

The theme for our 2009 Cabaret was
Hittin’ the Road.
Kate made a poster using her little music note man.
Bonnie made a poster thanking all our sponsors. We got more sponsors
this year, even with the economic downturn and we
got our first corporate sponsor, Fairytale Brownies.
Ginny hard at work on the Chattanooga Choo Choo.
Jean wore her cowboy hat for the practice.
Katherine and Elizabeth practiced their song with Don looking on.
On the night of the performance, Diana was ready to take tickets.
The tables were full of goodies.
Lydia
and Harriet, from the Green Sanctuary Committee were ready to keep the
tables neat the the glassware ready.
Bert
was one of our bartenders.
Sarah and Mike, our stage techs, had their chart ready and knew what
they were supposed to do. The tables were decorated with flowers,
vehicles and roads!
Duke was our nattily dressed Master of Ceremonies.
We started the show with a rousing rendition of Cabaret.
Jerry wailed Flying Home on his clarinet.
Elizabeth sang the Sesame Street Theme Song, while Katherine played.
A group of us sang Carefree Highway.
For the performance, Jean didn't wear her hat, but she still belted out
her song, Don't Fence Me In.
Richard and Smoot did a UU hotdog vendor skit - Make me one with
everything!
Ed played Autumn Leaves while Susan turned pages.
Kat, Kelly and Kate performed Instanbul, Not Constantinople while
Connie accompanied on accordion.
Carolyn sang I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise.
The
Nostalgia Barbarshop Quartet sang Lonesome Road.
The Rockettes of Ages were joined by the other choir women for
Chattanooga Choo Choo.
Dave and Bonnie belted out Ghost Riders in the Sky.
The tenors and basses sang We Sail the Ocean Blue. Smoot got to be the
captain, and wear his father's authentic uniform jacket.
Stewardship co-chairs Donna and Susan led a special version of a song
from Chorus Line.
Smoot tried to keep up with the kicks!
Connie led the choir and audience in a Sing-along.
The audience really got into it.
The Green Sanctuary helpers got into the spirit of things too.
The
choir sang along too.
The second half of the show started with the choir singing Four Strong
Winds.
Kat sang People Get Reday, with Susan and Kelly as back-up.
Dick sang Moon River with Susan and Pat as back-up.
Duke and Carolyn had a funny running skit called The Answer Lady.
Kate, Connie, Sandy and Susan played Back in the USSR.
Bonnie, her daughter Shelly and her mother Gwen sang Wide Open Spaces
with Dave and Connie as back-up.
Jean's granddaughter did a sweet and beatiful rendition of Johnny and
June.
The Route 66 Seven sang, what else, Route 66.
They were accompanied by a special riff by Stan on the electric and
Richard and Duke on acoustic guitars.
Duke and Richard sang On the Road Again. (Bill was supposed to sing
with them, but he was sick.)
The choir women were menacing in Hit the Road, Jack.
Kelly was hysterical as Jack, vowing to be back with a corner office at
AIG and a 401K!
Kelly played air rolling pin for Truckin'.
During the last song, Rolling Home, I was given flowers for my work as
Cabaret CEO.
Connie got flowers for all her hard work herding us cats and making the
show a rousing success.
