Choir Events 2008

On Saturday, Jan 12, we had a choir retreat and even though it looks like we’re praying, we’re really focusing on our music!

Connie, of course, had everything under control.

The tenors were working especially hard!

As were the sopranos and altos.

and basses.

It wasn't ALL work. We had time to chow down too. And what a spread!

That must have been an interesting conversation!

Richard was obviously pleased with the variety of food.

Our January Birthday Babies, Sharon, Sandy, Pauline and Lynne

Good breath support!

The cake from Pat, gifts from Ginny & Joanne, balloons and flowers from Charlotte. Quite a haul!

And goodies, lots of goodies!

And Bill!

I think that's a balloon in Lynne's hair!

Here are the cute pics Bill took:

Next, our birthday party celebrating our Feb honorees, Ginny and Kelly, though Kelly couldn't be with us.

Ginny getting ready to blow!

Ginny and one of her gifts, a plastic flower that lights up in water.

Ginny checking out her second gift with Sandy. They thought it was a chunk of chocolate, but was really soap!

Frank and Ginny looking happy. Ginny's wearing her two voter stickers!

Susan, Sam and Diana.

Bill looks animated, as usual!

Patty, Sally, Pauline and Joyce

Smoot, Heidi and Duke having a serious discussion about politics. Smoot, having run for, won and served two terms on the Austin, Tx City Council, knows what it's like to campaign and it's not pretty!

And then, to my complete surprise, there was a Valentine's party honoring me!

On Saturday, March 8, 2008 we presented Colorific Cabaret. For more photos, see http://www.charlottes-web.com/2008_Cabaret.htm

On Sunday, March 16, Bill and Joan hosted a party at their house to eat and watch the Cabaret DVD. Here some choir members enjoy looking at the photos of the show that Dale Fisher took.

Natalia and Bert, who helped during the show, joined us.

Jean and Mort joined us too.

Watching ourselves on the DVD.

March birthdays - Pat, Susan, Ruth, Ellen, Joyce, Joanne and Carl. Missing Jean.

Pat made her own birthday cake and it was yummy, as usual! Ellen joined us as a former choir member; she's moving back to her homestate of Minn at the end of the month.

On Apr 16, Susan Frederick Gray, our candidate for settled minister, dropped by choir practice.

The past and present came together on Sun, Apr 20 when our previous and current pianist, Ed and Lynne played a duet.

On May 4, the combined UUCP and Valley UU choirs presented the UU cantata Sources. For more photos of the event, see http://www.charlottes-web.com/2008_5-4_Sources.htm

On May 11, we repeated the preformance at Valley UU.

On May 14, we celebrated our May birthdays - Jerry, Sally and Paula. Barbara was missing.

On Sat. May 17, we had a Music Committee meeting at Richard & Connie's house. We elected new officers - Chair - Diana A, Vice chair - Sally McD, Secretary - Carl W and Treasurer - Paula.

Duke brought his digital recording our of Sources performance and showed it on R & C's big screen TV.

The theme of the party was Blackberries, in honor of all the blackberries R & C have in their yard.

We were supposed to bring something made with blackberries, but Jesse and Sharon were excused since they drove 14 hour from OR to get back for the party!

Bill took this cute pic of Joan, Ginny and Joyce.

At the end of June, Roberta and Dennis will be leaving us to go to Santa Monica, CA.

Paula and her Uncle Ray!

The dynamic duo!

Bill and Richard were having a serious discussion about teaching.

Smoot and Joan were having a serious discussion about politics, with Kat and her boyfriend, Eric, joining in.

On May 28, a group from the choir went to the baseball game to watch Susan and her viola group play the National Anthem.

On June 4th, Connie hosted an Awards Banquet for the choir. Above, Connie with Diana, the incoming and Paula the outgoing Music Committee chair. For more photos from the banquet, see http://www.charlottes-web.com/2008_Jun_Bday,Awards.htm

We also celebrated our June birthdays, Smoot and Richard.

June 7th was the farewell service for Roberta and Dennis.

Dave had written a special farewell song.

On June 22nd, several choir members joined Lynne's Sanctorum group to sing at the Solstice service.

Our first rehearsal in the fall was on Aug 27th so we celebrated our Aug birthdays - Charlotte, Diana, Duke, Frank, Dante and Heidi.
